BIM Integration with Big Data for Construction Scheduling

Abstract: Although a synergetic complementary relationship between BIM and big data analytics has been recognized, an integration of big data in a BIM system has not been examined for more reliable project activity duration estimation. Thus, this research aims at examining the potential integration of BIM and big data for more accurate project schedule development. The research outcome presents that the integration of a BIM system and big data analysis can be achieved, and this has been proved based on the central limit theorem. It has been recognized that the duration estimation range can be reduced significantly after 30 activities refined. Thus, it is evident that there is a synergetic complementary relationship between BIM and big data analysis, and this can enable construction professionals to develop a more reliable project schedule, and manage a project schedule more effectively.
